Must Do Trends for Fall 2013

So what are the must do trends for the fall season?? I'm going to lay out my top 10 trends, in no particular order below. Try them all or pick the ones that fit you the best! Remember fashion is about taking risks and stepping outside your comfort zone. So go ahead and pick a trend you might have never tried...you'll never know the results unless you try. Rock it fashionista!

#1 Blush Pink - this is an early fall trend but looks fabulous on most people and pair back great with gold accents.

#2 The Flounce Skirt - this a cute twist on a skirt that gives some flare and attitude to a world dominated by the pencil skirt.

#3 The Bold Stripe - my favorite is in black and white but you are also seeing black with a pop color.

#4 The Split Front Bootie - my current footwear obsession...this is just a great way to update the bootie style and gives it a modern edge.

#5 Quilting - I am loving this in handbags, footwear, jackets, and skirts. It's unexpected and looks luxurious.

#6 Leopard Print - my favorite print of all time. It is as classic as black and it never goes out of style. It works great with almost everything.

#7 Plaids - this is not your normal plaid. Think more tartan plaids in unexpected colors.

#8 Satchel Bags - current love in handbag styles. It is clean and modern. Perfect for the fall season.

#9 Sweaters - I think this will be a very strong sweater season from your basic crew-neck or cardigan to your fashion statement sweaters.

#10 BE FABULOUS - this is your state of mind. You are what you think. You are fabulous no matter what anyone tells you. You are unique and be proud of it. Work it girl!!

Fall Fashion and The September Issues!

It's my favorite time of the year! The weather is becoming more bearable (I live I texas so these 100*+ days get old really fast), school is going to be starting again (glad I graduated with my Masters this spring so I am done with school forever!), football season is back, and the most important...all the retailers fall season is staring to show up in store!!
I don't know what it is but I have always been attracted to the fall/winter season more then the spring/summer season. I find myself after the holidays saying there is nothing to buy to update my wardrobe. But it never fails me that mid-August comes around and all the stores have a million things I want to buy!! Maybe it's the color palette, maybe is the silhouette's, maybe it's the fabrics....I don't know but whatever it is it is pure heaven.
Also the fall fashion season is like the Super Bowl, the NBA finals, the World Series, whatever big event you want to compare it too. The back half of the year for a retailer is where their entire year can be made or broken (especially since Black Friday is getting even closer now!!).
The fashion magazine publishers also play a huge roll in why the fall season is such a big deal!! All of us fashionista anxiously await the arrival of our September Issues every year! This year (2013) we have 3,598 glorious pages of fall fashion from our favorite fashion magazines...Vogue, Marie Claire, Glamour, People Style Watch, InStyle, Harper's Bazaar, and Lucky!

So one might be wondering what are the key trends that a fashionista must follow this fall season???
Well you will just have to wait for another post later this week with those answers.

Nina Garcia's Back-To-School Picks for JCPenney

Nothing makes me more excited than back to school! The fashion industry is
buzzing as designers and brands work tirelessly to share their latest
collections. Shopping is so exciting as you find those items that transition
easily from summer to fall. Here are some key looks I've pulled together.
Whether you're going back to school or to work, there's a little something for
everyone, every day and every budget!

Nina Garcia recently came out with her top picks of items from JCPenney for back-to-school or just refreshing your current wardrobe. Well, it is an honor to have one of the skirts I bought for the Worthington brand selected and featured in an outfit! The skirt shown in the Worthington Zipper Front Skirt, it comes in black, white, and khaki taupe (shown), and it has a retail of $36. FYI - the zippers are fully functional! You can wear it at work zipped up and then switch to going out by unzipping it a little bit! The blouse shown is the Worthington 100% Silk Blouse in Lepoardo Print, there are other colors also available, and it has a retail of $40. The shoes shown are Worthington too. Everything is available in stores and on jcpenney.com

So what does it mean to be considered petite or tall?? Many people don't know this answer so let's clear it up right here and now.

If so you are Petite!!

You need to look for clothes that have a lengthening effect.

What is your shape?

First things first! Before we can start talking about any fashion or trends we need to figure out what looks best on our bodies. This way we can be the most fabulous version of ourselves.

So what shape are you??

Are you:
  • Curvy
  • Pear
  • Boyish
  • Apple

If you don't know and even if you think you know lets take our measurements so we can be 100% sure of our shape! Got your tape measure ready? Let's measure...

On top: wrap snugly, but not tight, around breasts at the midline of your bust.
At your waist: measure at your belly button or slightly below.
On the bottom: take the measurement at your widest point - which may be right at the hips, or lower down at your thighs.

Each day this week we will go more into depth on each shape. We will also touch on different body sizes as well. Such as plus, petite, and tall. You will fall into one of the above shapes but your proportions are slightly different!

Then we will be ready to start taking on fashion!

And so the fashion journey begins...

I have stated for sometime that I was going to create a fashion blog but yet never took the time to do it. Well now is the time and here is the start to my fashion blog.
I will be talking about the latest trends, upcoming trends, shopping experiences, retail news, fashion shows, creating fabulous outfits, and so much more. Anything and everything fashion related is fair game.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.
